Notes

For the first time in transitioning between eras there was no lapse in competition. While Seattle preceded Portland into MLS by two years, the Sounders and Timbers were matched each of those seasons in the Open Cup…Sparked by the big attendance numbers for both clubs and the spectacle of their supporters groups, national attention focused on the rivalry for the first time in over 30 years. ESPN televised the May 14, 2011 match and Sports Illustrated covered it as well…In the series’ first Sibling Rivalry, Sounders brothers Cristian and Alex Roldan featured against Portland’s Diego and Yimmi Chara with the latter scoring the game’s lone goal on Sept 23, 2020…Aug. 29, 2021 was played as doubleheader with Reign-Thorns.
